In 2020, the 69th edition of Festival Internacional de Santander was held, with a programme adapted to reflect the public health measures and restrictions in place. The event focused on Spanish musicians and concerts with small audiences to encourage social distancing. Specific protocols were also designed to guarantee the safety of the public and the musicians.
The foundation sponsored the closing concert, which was held on 30 August 2020 at the Sala Argenta at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria (Santander). The Orquesta Nacional de España, led by conductor Jaime Martín, performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D major op. 36 and Symphony No. 5 in C minor op. 67. The German composer’s music was given pride of place on the programme to mark the 250th anniversary of his birth.
